Movin' on UP!!!

So today was the day! I got my KEYS to my new APARTMENT!!!!!! Jessica and I met Nancy (our landlord) this afternoon, got our keys, then proceeded to turn on all the lights, find all the outlets, open the windows, check out all the drawers and cupboards, and buzz each other in the front door.

After we exhausted all of that we went shopping and got some odds and ends... trash can, shower curtain, dish rack, utensil organizer, new shower head, new toilet seat (yes, a new toilet seat)... you know, all the essentials.

Another weekend gone...

So this was a lovely weekend. My lease got OFFICIALLY signed and we get to pick up our keys on the 22nd and move in on the 24th. I went and tanned at the BEACH!!! (Yes there are such things up here) I watched "Something's Gotta Give" "RENT" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and went and saw "Bandslam" (btw, "Bandslam" can pretty much be avoided, by NO means is it a necessary watch), went birthday shopping for a particular BROTHER (SUCCESS!!!) and did some serious guitar playing. PERFECT!!!! Now if only the weekend could extend itself.

RENT

So every one knows the musical RENT, correct? So I decided to watch it last night because I knew the Production Coordinator at Trauma (my boss) had worked on it and I wanted to see if her name turned up in the end credits...

Turns out a LOT of people from that movie/musical are currently working on Trauma... I don't know if that is necessarily a good thing seeing as RENT was all about the singing and dancing and the greater message about AIDS during the 1908s in New York whereas Trauma is a drama centered in San Francisco, about 2900 miles away, and deals with dramatic life and death situations of crashes and accidents. We shall see.

Some new DIGS!!!

So I OFFICIALLY have a place! Granted I can't move in for a week and even when I do I won't have anything in it... the lease papers have been signed and approved and we pick up our keys a week from yesterday!

My new address is 2952 California Street #1. You can Googlemaps it and look at the street view, Google maps is a bit off so you need to look for the part of the street that looks like this:

Mine is the greenish colored building behind the crocked tree . It's really cute, it's in Pacific Heights, the inside is painted a "butter cup yellow"... I LOVE it!!! These are the only two pictures I have at the moment. I took these when we first looked at the place and there were a million people there, so give it a week and I'll give you the FULL tour!!!

Congress Created Dust Bowl

As Fräulein Maria said: "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start..."

So for those of you who do not know, I am currently working and residing in San Francisco, CA. On Thursday, July 30 at 11pm my old roommate emailed me a job listing she thought I would be interested in. So like the good job hunter I was, I edited my resume and sent it in with a lovely cover letter. I did not think I would hear back from them, but what's the harm in trying right? Well I was proved wrong. By 10am the next morning I got a phone call asking if I could set up a phone interview with them on Monday morning!

It was then that everything started spiraling. By Monday evening I was employed, by Tuesday my car was loaded with my essential personal supplies and bright and early Wednesday morning I was on the road for SAN FRANCISCO!!!

9 hours on the road does good and bad things for a person who has suddenly changed worlds. On one hand the monotony of the I-5 allows for time for some zen, for some deep reflection and soul searching. On the other hand you are given 9 hours of nothingness to utterly and completely FREAK OUT (for lack of a better term). It was an interesting journey, but I made it here in one piece and unloaded my mess of things at my friend Katie Post's place in the Inner Sunset (not to be confused with Sunset or Outer Sunset, Inner Sunset is the nice part of the district).

I reported for duty on Thursday morning at 830AM on Treasure Island. The funny thing about Treasure Island is that it's a place that everyone knows about, a lot of people have seen, but no one's been on it. It's a gorgeous little island that used to be a Navy base, but now is home to the coast guard AND Open 4 Business's production of "Trauma." It's pretty amazing what $$$$$$ can do to a place. All the old hangers have been converted into amazing studio sets - a green screen, Chinese studio, a COMPLETE hospital - completely amazing.

Day one was crazy, amazing, hectic, crazy, incredible, stressful... all rolled into one. I am told it will get better... we shall see.
